Why Aureus exists
The gap between deployed and governed
Aureus was founded on a repeated observation from inside large organisations: powerful platforms get bought, deployed, and then quietly underused or ungoverned. Tools get implemented but not enabled. AI agents get deployed but not governed. The risk stays invisible until something goes wrong, and by then the options are all expensive.
The practice was built to work in that gap. The governance side assesses and evidences AI systems against recognised frameworks. The delivery side fixes what the assessments find, on the platforms organisations already own. Most consultancies do one or the other; doing both in one pair of hands is the point.
The dual-partner position
Aureus holds both Anthropic and Microsoft partner status, a combination few Australian practices carry. It matters for one practical reason: governance advice from a single-vendor partner always carries a quiet incentive to recommend that vendor. Aureus's frameworks are the constant, ISO/IEC 42001, Australia's AI Ethics Principles, and the Microsoft Responsible AI Standard among them. The vendor is a variable.
How the practice runs itself
Aureus operates its own AI management system aligned to ISO/IEC 42001, the same discipline it assesses clients against. Internal documents are version-controlled, AI use is registered and risk-assessed, and this website carries a document reference in its footer for the same reason. Governance is not a service sold from the outside; it is how the practice works.
